About Us


Our staff consists of highly skilled, certified HIM professionals with experience in adult education, coding education, facility inpatient and outpatient coding and reimbursement. 

President and Director of Operations/Instructor


Michelle Cowart has 20+ years of progressive experience in HIM, focusing on coding, ICD-10-CM as well as CPT. She has earned high respect from her peers for her in-depth knowledge of coding and as a coding educator. Michelle earned her MPH in Health Informatics of Public Health Care from the Medical College of Georgia as well as her A.S. In Health Information Technology. She has obtained the credentials of RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CIC, COC, CPC and CPC-I. Michelle is an AHIMA-Approved trainer for ICD-10-CM/PCS. 

She served as Program Coordinator/Instructor in the Certificate in Medical Coding program at Aiken Technical College for six years, and to her credit, many of her students successfully obtained their CCS and/or CPC credential through her guidance. Michelle has proven she is dedicated to the HIM profession and to accurate and timely coding. She also has experience in working with physicians and other allied health personnel in coding and coding compliance. 

Michelle’s career hospital positions have included Coder, Contract Coding Consultant, Coding Supervisor, Data Quality Manager, Senior Audit Consultant, and Director of Compliance. She has experience in all sizes and types of facilities. She is now ready to launch another phase of her career with her company, All About Coding, to share her coding and coding education expertise with coding staffs of hospitals, physician offices, and ambulatory care centers.

Coding Tutor 


Sophia obtained her Coding Certificate from Aiken Technical College and Associates in Business Management degree from Horry Georgetown Technical College. She has 6+ years’ experience in all areas of outpatient coding with ICD-10-CM, CPT 4 and HCPCS. Sophia also has a strong background in education and completed teaching an ICD-10 course at Aiken Technical College. She has also tutored students preparing for the certification exam. Even as a college student, Sophia tutored some of her fellow students who were having difficulty with ICD-9-CM and/or CPT-4, as requested by her instructor. She has experience in training various medical facility staff on coding guidelines and documentation requirements. She is dedicated to providing quality coding and excellent education for all coders.

CPC® Preparation Course Syllabus


Prerequisites: Coursework in medical terminology and anatomy are required. Prior work experience may be substituted in lieu of formal courses if approved by the program director.


Clock Hours: 80 (Note: 80 clock hours accounts only for time spent in the online course, and does not include time spent outside the course or study time. Study time will vary widely per individual.)


Course Length: To be completed within a 6-month period or less (weekly course schedule).  Monthly course extensions may be purchased.


Class Hours: Days/Times Per Week: Online course, no classroom meetings; student may login to course at their own time schedule during the week with weekly material to be completed by scheduled date.  At least 5 to 7 group online live instructor review sessions. Dates to be determined based upon student availability. Sessions will be recorded.

Certificate of Completion Issued: Yes  (Available to Download from Learning Management system upon successful completion of 100% of course)

Course Description: The student will learn principles of medical coding related to the three main code books: CPT®, ICD-10-CM Code Set and HCPCS Level II. This course is recommended for anyone who is preparing for a career in medical coding for a physician’s office and strongly recommended for anyone who is preparing for AAPC’s CPC certification examination.

Course Objectives:


• Identify the purpose of the CPT®, ICD-10-CM Code Set, and HCPCS Level II code books

 • Understand and apply the official ICD-10-CM coding guidelines

 • Apply coding conventions when assigning diagnoses and procedure codes

 • Identify the information in appendices of the CPT® manual

 • Explain the determination of the levels of E/M services

 • Code a wide variety of patient services using CPT®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes

 • List the major features of HCPCS Level II Codes

 • Provide practical application of coding operative reports and evaluation and management services

Methods of Evaluation:


The instructional methods used include reading assignments, practice exercises and other assignments, audio/video lectures, chapter review exams, and a final exam. To receive a certificate of completion, students must successfully complete the course within the allotted time frame of 6 months or less (monthly extensions may be purchased). 

Successful course completion includes: • An attempt of all required assignments • A passing score of 70% or higher on all chapter exams • A passing score of 70% or higher on the final exam • An overall final course score of 70% or higher

No reduced hours in the course or tuition discount for previous education or training will be granted.
